My Interpretation

Defying conventions has been my biggest obsession for the entire part of my life.

I push androgyny to the limits. I bend the rules. I dare conventions. I challenge the cliché.

So when a good friend has been betrayed by his lover and came to the conclusion that all men are by nature irrevocably polygamous, I digress.

Okay, that was the inner me bluffing.

I know she’s right. Polygamy is a part of our genetic make-up, much like the sizes of our penis or the propensity to develop acne. Most men want what they can’t have. And once they have it, they want more.

After losing some of my loved ones due to those “dreaded” third parties, I have come to the realization that as a man, inasmuch as being human, we are such insatiable creatures. We could never get enough. We are never enough.

For we are beings with needs and wants. Being with a special someone does not, and will not guarantee us the fulfillment of our desires. For always, what we ultimately want is more.

I might have a special someone with me right now, but I firmly believe that there will come a time when I’ll get to meet someone who can better satisfy my needs. And I’m amenable to the fact that he might find someone else too. But I guess for now, we’ll just have to do.

There are conventions that we can fight, and there are some that we can’t. But in the end, what separates us from the other member of the specie is that we always have a choice. We can confront or we can succumb. We can challenge or we can surrender.

We can be polygamous if we choose to be. We can always choose not to. For in life, we all have two choices. To do what is right, or to do what is wrong.

In the end, we ultimately become what we choose to do.

polygamy don't work for me.

in my opinion, those who commit in polygamous relationships, doesn't know what they want...

:) just my opinion. hehe!

All depends on the couple. If they can work it out, polygamy doesn't have to hurt.

but 75% of world established societies are unfortunately polygamous

not because ito ang uso, isa ito sa reality.

yup in a humanistic point of view, it will all depends sa choice natin.

if one can't be in a monogamous relationship, then why bother being in a relationship at all?

sadly enough, men can't really be satisfied with what they have. it believe it's part of our evolution as humans. sounds geeky but think about it, if we (i'm now referring to guys and gals here) are satisfied with what we have at present, then we would not progress. we would probably remain as neanderthals. we won't look for solutions to our present dilemmas, heck we won't even have dilemmas at all. and in the end, we will cease to exist. as my old professor used to say, "nothing's permanent in this world except change".

what i believe is we are given the choice, the freedom to do what is right. if men are insatiable, i think it can be redirected to more productive and positive choices, just like choosing to be monogamous. it's like saying happiness is a choice, but how we perceive it still differs from one being to another.

Musta? Nagpaparamdan lang po. :)

i think gay men have a big tendency to cheat kasi wala naman marriage and stuff eh. walang promise or vow. i'm not impressed with those who have two or three boyfriends nor am i impressed with those who willingly enter these relationships kahit kerida sila.. i am really impressed with those old gay couples na kahit kulubut na sila and everything, you can still sense na may love. too bad that the hetero norm is the homo exception.

btw, love this song. sorry first time ko sa blog mo pero i'm really amused. :D

Insightful...yet in my mind monogamy (which is a consequence of our conscious decision to commit to one person) sets apart from what every sexual being is predisposed to do (the instinct to propagate its own genes). I wonder why same-sex species are more akin to following that genetic predisposition. Is it a subconscious way of rebelling against social norm? Coz I seriouslly doubt the they incapable of committment...Just a thought.

...set US apart from every OTHER sexual being...

Coz I SERIOUSLY doubt THAT they are incapable....

@spirited man: i dare not challenge the laws my friend. as aristotle (and reese) said: "he law is (still) reason, free from passion."

@lucas: do people actually know what they really want?

@savante: now that's worth talking.

@dabo: the remaining 25%, i think, has become extinct 100 years ago.

@jericho: convenience? security? just for the sake of having one?
